
A day after Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and northern Herefordshire were all hit by severe flooding, the River Wye finally gave way at Ross. This swan is 50 metres from the river.
Taken at the same location as this, give of take a couple of metres.

Flickr is full of photos of the same flower, same angle of the Trevi Fountain, all devoid of emotion, inspiration and originality, but these two photos, taken by two different photographers from different viewpoints are amazing.

At first glance they look different, but if you look closely at the position of the couple, in particular the gentleman’s hand, you’ll see that their of the same scene taken at the same time.

Following on from my “Multiplicity: Pouring yourself a beer” tutorial that used the eraser tool to merge the images, this slightly more advanced tutorial explains how to use layer masks to achieve the result. Layer masks are better suited to this because you can selectively “undo” changes to the layer long after you’ve made other changes. (more…)
